As the cost of living crisis continues, more and more Britons are looking for nifty ways to save money on their energy bills.
With this in mind, Daniel Khanlarpour, who has been a gas engineer for 16 years, has shared a simple tip for saving water which could save you money on your water bills.
Mr Khanlarpour, also known as Gas Guru, is a member of Checkatrade, the home of quality trades to get your essential jobs done when you need to book something.
The expert shared how Britons can save cash just by changing how they flush their toilets.
Most modern toilets now have a “dual flush option” which gives users the option of either a full flush or a half flush.

The options allow Britons to choose the flush that’s most appropriate for them allowing them to use half the amount of water in some cases.
A full flush can use six to nine litres of water per flush while smaller flushes or a “half flush” can use three to four litres.
Using the correct flush could save Britons between 50 and 60 percent of their water for each flush.

Mr Khanlarpour told The Sun: “If the toilet has a dual flush, make sure you’re using the smaller flush for liquids and the larger flush for everything else.”
Some experts claim that just by using the correct flush, Britons could save around £100 a year.
It’s important to check the dual flush system isn’t leaking water into the bowl as this could end up costing you more money.

The large toilet flush should be used for solid waste and other things while the small flush should be used for liquid waste.
Matthew Besley, a bathroom design expert from Bathroom Supastore, said installing a dual flush system is a simple way to save both water and money.
He added: “If you have an old toilet system that doesn’t have a dual flush system and you can’t afford to replace your toilet, another alternative is to use a Save-a-Flush style bag that replaces some of the water in your cistern so you use less water per flush.”
