Having lived in Windsor for more than a year, and visited for the last 20 years, it\u2019s easy to see why the historic market town is so popular and why people travel all over the world to visit.<\/p>\n
Windsor is situated in Berkshire, bordering Slough and Maidenhead, just 21.8 miles from Charing Cross and 15.8 miles from Reading.<\/p>\n
It is immediately south of the River Thames, which forms its boundary with its smaller twin town of Eton, known for Eton College.<\/p>\n
Although Windsor Castle has made the town famous, there are plenty of other reasons why people choose to move to the town.<\/p>\n
The transport links are great, with two train stations in the centre of town and Slough not too far up the road. There are also several buses connecting Berkshire with London.<\/p>\n

More info<\/p>\n It costs anywhere between \u00a328 and \u00a330 for an adult to visit inside the castle, although residents do get this for free with their resident card.<\/p>\n I also love the amount of open and green space there is, thanks to Windsor Great Park, which is 2,020 hectares.<\/p>\n Residents and visitors can walk around forests, and lakes, and explore The Long Walk, which offers magnificent views of Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n However, living in the town doesn\u2019t come cheap with the average house price currently standing at \u00a3653,584 over the last year, according to Rightmove.<\/p>\n The majority of sales in Windsor over the last year were semi-detached properties, selling for an average of \u00a3635,718. Terraced homes sold for an average of \u00a3609,074, while flats fetched \u00a3381,183.<\/p>\n Overall, sold prices in the Berkshire town over the last year were similar to the previous year and five percent up on the 2020 peak of \u00a3623,031.<\/p>\n There are currently nearly 400 homes for sale at the time of writing in Windsor and the surrounding areas including Old Windsor and Dedworth.<\/p>\n There\u2019s a huge array of homes on the market including a \u00a34.2million Grade II listed residence as well as some new build homes.<\/p>\n Comparing this to the rental market, there are currently 209 properties available to rent on Rightmove\u2019s website in Windsor and the surrounding areas.
